Nuvola Ravera has studied in the department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Genoa, in a masters’ course in contemporary photography at Cfp Bauer in Milan, Cinema and video at the Brera Academy of Fine arts and at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig. She has worked alongside many artists in the production of selected projects, such as Armin Linke in his studio in Berlin, Bouchra Khalili and Giorgio Andreotta Calò.
She lives and works in Venice, where in 2016/2017 she took part in Bevilacqua La Masa residency program and is currently completing her studies at IUAV University (Visual arts department).
She has collaborated with and had works exhibited in various institutions, among which the Villa Croce Contemporary Art Museum in Genoa; Castel Sant’Elmo, Naples; Fondazione BLM; the Aveiro Museum; Atelierhaus Salzamt, Linz; Fabbrica del Vapore, Milano; Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella; Biennale di Venezia. She has appeared in the following printed works: Lady Dior, as seen by a new generation of italian artists, Mousse Publishing; Genova Ventimiglia Genova, Humboldt Books. The magazine “Artribune” nominated her asbest upcoming Italian artist for 2017. Her research combines a pursuit of near- magical “apparitions” or superstitions with elements from the scientific world performing the encounter. She experiments with various types of perceptive deconstruction, calling into question the excessive domestication required to keep overcrowded societies running, through an investigation on the meaning of care, community, preservation of memory.
She takes interest in various disciplinary fields used to develop devices through which the psyche of places can be unearthed and that can build plastic worlds that stress the human tissue’s norms and regulations in relation to the environment.
